Fall Bible Study
Will you be the one?  In Exodus, two million Israelites were invited by God to enter the Promised Land, but only two ever made it.  That’s a one in a million chance.  Today, over two billion Christians are given the same opportunity.

Priscilla Shirer; “One in a Million: Journey to Your Promised Land”
Elaine Hutchison will be facilitating.  Starting on September 12th from 5-7 pm.

Stocking the New Kitchen!
God has truly blessed our church with the new multipurpose/

recreation/family building, and, a New Kitchen for all to use.

For the next 3-4 weeks, we are in need (and gathering)  'Gently

Used' or 'New' Kitchen Supplies, and, we will begin stocking the

new kitchen for our events. If it is in your heart to bring a new

or gently used item, please bring your item(s) to the old

parsonage (new offices), and, place in the collection container.

Items needed are:
Dish Towels, Hot pads, Large and small Stock Pots, large and small sauce pans, fry skillets, baking sheets (13 x 18 or 18 x 26), Serving bowls - both large and small, Large Serving spoons and forks, Tongs, Spatulas, Cake/Pie Servers, Cutting Knives, cutting board, etc.   ( No time for shopping? - Cash, Wal-Mart and Sams' gift cards are welcomed too - we will shop for you! )

This is a joyous time for all of us as a church - let's all shine in the glory of God's blessing.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 100:4

Casseroles for Christ

An outreach and in-reach ministry helping those experiencing illness, death, moving, new arrival or needing assistance or just a little encouragement

This ministry, Casseroles for Christ, is a way we can each accept Christ’s Empowerment – Ladies Accepting Christ’s Empowerment (LACE).  In Hebrews 10:24-25 the word says…and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near (NAS).

Through Casseroles for Christ we hope to reach people, whether members of OGBC or people in the community who have a need.  There are occasions when people have immediate needs and we feel with a little planning we can stock the freezer with casseroles and soups so when a need arises, the church can respond immediately.

If you would like to participate in this ministry, please sign up in the Fellowship Hall (schedule will be posted on the Womens Ministry bulletin board).  Initially we would like to have 3 new casserole or soup dishes per week.  This will increase as the ministry grows.

Things you need to know when preparing a dish for this ministry.

Please prepare your casseroles in foil pans, which are disposable.

If you prepare soup, again, you should have soup in a container that does not need to be returned to the church (i.e. plastic storage canister or bowl)

There will be labels in an envelope by the freezer in Fellowship hall where you fill in the name of the dish; the expiration date and baking or heating instructions (please attach to the top of the lid).

We would like for you to include the recipe (recipe cards are available in an envelope on the women’s bulletin board in Fellowship Hall).  Attach the recipe to the top of the lid.

If you can’t include the recipe, please write out the ingredients and put on the top of the lid (for allergy purposes)

We will have premade cards that will go with each of the casseroles when they leave the church.  There will be a scripture on the front and brief note on the inside with phone numbers they can call if they would like to pray with someone.

If you know someone with a need, please feel free to access the food that the Women of the Church will be preparing for this ministry.  This ministry is not intended to take the place of the good work done in the Sunday School classes, to meet class member needs, but can be used in addition to Sunday School class blessings.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Harla Adams at 817-874-8370 or hadams@nihcl.com.

Please pray this ministry will be a blessing to those receiving the casseroles/soups.

ANGEL FOOD MINISTRIES

The Women's and Men’s Ministries are combining forces to bring to Oak Grove Baptist Church “Angel Food Ministries”.  Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and support to communities throughout the United States.  Angel Food works through churches and community organizations.  The Women's Ministry will take orders and collect monies for our church and work with Retta Baptist Church to place those orders, and, The Men's Ministry will provide distribution at Oak Grove (in the Fellowship Hall) on the last Saturday of the month from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. to those participating families.

Who qualifies?
Everyone. There are no applications or qualifications to order Angel Food.

How it Works -
By buying food from first rate suppliers at substantial volume discounts, Angel Food Ministries is able to provide families with approximately $65 worth of quality nutritious food for $30. Angel Food Ministries does not use out-of-date food or inferior products. Angel Food is available in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $30 per unit. Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month.  Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60.  Other specialty boxes are available (Assorted Meat box, Fresh Fruit and Veggie box, Easter Sunday Dinner Box, Senior
Convenience box, etc.).  This is not a free program, but, a program that provides high quality, nutritious food at a reasonable cost.  It is to help offset your monthly grocery budget.

Orders are taken through the first or second week of the month.  Order forms, brochures and menus will be available in the office, on the Women’s Ministry bulletin board, or, by contacting Karen Ball.  Distribution or Pick Up dates almost always occur on the last Saturday of the Month -  (A suggestion;
When you pick up your package on the distribution date, you may want to go ahead and place your next month’s order at that same time – this allows you to make only one trip for both ordering and picking up).  Menus will be provided. Payment must be made when you place the order.   If you do not pick up your package – it will be donated.
Mark your calendars now!

Please contact the office or Karen Ball if you are
